چکیده

Somatotropin (STH) administered to earth gravity birds (1 g) stimulated the mean growth in height of the articular cartilage layer of the distal tibial epiphyses (DTE) and of the resting and proliferating layers of the proximal epiphyses of os tarsometatarsus (PE-TMT). However, it inhibited growth in height of the calcified cartilage zone of both epiphyses. Hypergravity control animals (2 g) showed a decreased growth in mean height of proliferating, maturing and calcified cartilage zones of the DTE as well as in the resting and calcified cartilage of the PE-TMT. Hypergravity (2 g) plus STH decreased mean height of articular cartilage zones of the DTE while increasing this parameter within the PE-TMT. The growth in height of maturing cartilage layer of the DTE and of the calcified cartilage zone of the PE-TMT was significantly decreased by administration of the hormone under hypergravity conditions. With the exception of the articular cartilage layer of STH treated 2 g animals the mean growth in width of all cartilage zones of the DTE was significantly decreased by the hypergravity state regardless of whether the animal received somatotropin or the acetic acid suspension media (0.06M CH3 COOH). STH administered to earth gravity animals significantly increased the mean growth in width of all but the articular cartilage layer of the PE-TMT. The same cartilage zones of this epiphysis showed a significant decrease in width following administration of the hormone to animals maintained under hypergravity conditions. OHIO J. Background: Microwave Thermotherapy has been gradually used in radiotherapy and it is reported that microwave radiation increases bone demineralization rate independently of temperature. Furthermore, it becomes more and more widespread that the damage caused by the synergistic effect of microwave radiation and hypergravity. The experiment was designed to investigate the effect of microwa...

Lack of Association between Somatotropin Receptor Gene Polymorphism and Birth Weight of Iranian Indigenous Sistani Cattle

The objective of the present study was to determine polymorphism within the promoter region of somatotropin receptor genes in indigenous Sistani cattle (Bos indicus) and associations between this polymorphism and breeding value of birth weight. The pedigree structure was included by considering 1173 animals with 600 progeny birth weight data obtained from a Zhark breeding station in Sistan and ...

Growth Performance and Carcass Quality of Layer Type Cockerels and Broiler Chicken

The aim of the study was to compare the growth performance and carcass quality of layer-type cockerels and broilers reared under identical conditions. A total of 180 one-day-old broiler male (BM), broiler female (BF) and brown layer male (LM) chicks were distributed into 9 floor pens in a completely randomized design, with 3 replicates of 20 birds per experimental unit. The body weights and fee...

Effect of Arsenic on the Disposition Kinetics of Sulphadimidine and Protective efficacy of Pipali (piper longum) in Cockerels

This study was designed to evaluate pharmacokinetics of sulphadimidine   in cockerels fed on subclinical dose of arsenic (100 ppm) in diet and to determine the protective efficacy following simultaneous dietary medication with Piper longum (pipli)   (100 ppm) in a 12-week feeding trial. Pharmacokinetic parameters were determined after single i.v. dose (50 mg/kg) of sulphadimidine ...

The effects of short-term growth hormone (somatotropin) bath on some growth and immunity indices in the early stages of growth in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

This study was conducted to determine the effect of growth hormone on some growth and immunity parameters at three stages of rainbow trout eyed egg, alvin and fry. The experiment was carried out in 4 treatments with concentrations of 0, 0.1, 0.5 and 1 mg/l of somatotropin hormone. For permeability, different experimental groups were treated with sodium hypochlorite (0.005 %) for 15 seconds befo...
